If, In view of the shocking events in Ukraine, you would like to help the Humanitarian Appeal we are suggesting the following charities.  Both are actively accepting financial donations:

CAFOD: Donation to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and UkraineHelp us to protect and save lives – Caritas

The parish has launched an appeal for funds to augment the quality of sound available in church.  Many of our parishioners are deaf and the current provision is wholly inadequate.  Fortunately, the new amplifier, installed in 2021, is capable of supporting output to a further four speakers, which is just the number we need to ensure good sound quality throughout the building. Fundraising has got off to the most encouraging start!
On August 18 th. members of the Knight family gave a wonderful concert of both classical and twentieth century music, with Matthew playing piano and harmonica, Anthony playing the violin and Edita providing percussion.  Everyone present was delighted and the evening ended with a well-deserved standing ovation for the musicians. Many, many thanks to the forty or so people who attended, for their great generosity: the event brought £700 to the coffers. The Sound and Streaming Appeal was well on its way! The following Saturday afternoon saw us gathering for a wonderful tea party, courtesy of Liz Speers, Joy Beckwith, Jenny Collins, Anne Knott, Novella Davis, Ann Fulke-Greville and Deacon Vincent. It was a warm and cheerful community occasion, graced by provision of a truly delicious selection of savouries and cakes. It is cheering to report that, again, our parishioners gave a further £700 to the cause. Many thanks to everyone for getting so wholeheartedly behind this initiative. Eventually we’ll all be very glad to benefit from improved sound in church.
